Here is the part that is actually sick. Shane Robertson is the uncle. The person who got impersonated to the police is a kid in his own family. An autistic kid. A kid who still bothers to tell you the cats are good and that he has not missed a day of school, because those are the pieces of the night he can hold still.

Then the cops are in the driveway. Then he cannot sleep. Then he is the one doing the comforting — I know it's not you guys — as if the job of an autistic child is to keep the adults from coming apart after an adult used his name as a weapon.

That is fucked up. There is no softer sentence that is still true. You do not build a fake inbox in a child's name and mail "bad things" to the police. You do not do it to a kid who already has to work twice as hard to keep a school day in one piece. You especially do not do it if you are the uncle. An uncle is supposed to be the spare grown-up. This one called in a strike on the kid.

That is not a prank. That is not a family spat that got loud. That is a grown man putting a child's name on a complaint and waiting to see who bleeds. Felony charges are pending. They should be.
